It’s New Brew Thursday!
Every Thursday, to help introduce a new brew to the area, and in homage to the New Brew Thursday podcast, and so that you can work on your Untappd New Brew Thursday badge (which now maxes at level 50), we bring at least one new beer to our bottle line-up. This week we have a new bottle, a new brew tapped, and a returning tap for winter.
In the past month or so, Avery Brewing in Boulder, CO has released some big barrel-aged brews; Rumpkin, an ale brewed with pumpkin and spices aged in rum barrels; Pump[KY]n, a porter brewed with pumpkin and spices aged in bourbon barrels; and now Tweak, a coffee stout aged 4 months in fresh bourbon barrels coming in at 17.81% abv. Today Tweak is put on the bottle list and a limited number of bottles will be available in the pub*!
Learn more about Tweak at Brewbound.com.
If you haven’t already heard, Stone Brewing (based in Escondido, CA) opened a location in the Point Loma neighborhood of San Diego: Stone Liberty Station. Not only is it the largest restaurant in San Diego, but the facility also includes a fully operational brewery where they create new and uniquely different brews; not the same beers as those brewed in Escondido! (Stone Liberty Station took Gold in the Belgian-Style Ale category this year at the Great American Beer Fest for their Witty Moron.) While their brews are usually only available at Stone Liberty Station, they’ve started to release a few for distribution . . . and we’ve got some.
Today we’re tapping Stone Farms Fresh Hop Ale: the first fresh/wet-hopped beer from Liberty Station, fresh/wet-hopped exclusively with hops from the Stone Farms! This beer has a lot of garden aromas and flavors that you normally don’t find in most beers unless they are fresh/wet-hopped. The beer comes in at 7.4% abv and 87 IBUs, with bitterness and a light malty sweetness on the palate. Grab a glass today and introduce yourself to a brew from Stone’s “other” brewery!
Visiting us again for the winter, and just in time for the weather this weekend, we’re tapping N’Ice Chouffe (10% abv), a Dark Winter Beer from Brewery Achouffe in Achouffe, Belgium. This strong brown beer is unfiltered and refermented in the barrels. Spiced with thyme and curaçao and just a hint of hops, this beer is perfect for a cold winter night!
Today at 4:30 the LA Kings take on the Ottawa Senators. With Darryl behind the bar all night we’ll of course have the game on, and you’ll of course receive 10% off craft beers during the game**!
Stop in for the game, or just to try something new and work towards your next New Brew Thursday badge on Untappd. Don’t forget to checkout how New Brew Thursday was started, and catch up on old episodes.
* Due to the high abv and the limited quantity, there is a limit of 1 bottle of Avery Tweak per person per day. Bottles of Tweak are not eligible for discounts.
** Our LA Kings game discount applies to select 12-16 ounce Bottles & Cans of craft beers and all draft beers, ordered between 10 minutes before and 3 hours after the scheduled start time of the game and cannot be combined with other discount offers.
Please remember that all alcohol purchases must be consumed on premises and may not be removed from the pub.
