Yesterday’s Mystery Beer had been here before. In fact, it made its debut at the Couch by being a Mystery Beer almost a year ago to the day. This week’s Mystery Beer was: Hoppy Poppy IPA, from Figueroa Mountain Brewing Co. in Buellton, CA.

This 2012 LA International Beer Festival Gold Medal winner is a west-coast style IPA that pours a crystal clear, light amber color, has aromas of orange, grapefruit and tangerine, with a soft bitterness that lingers on the palette.

From their website:

ABV 6.5% • IBU 60

STYLE: American India Pale Ale
INSPIRATION
Hoppy Poppy IPA is a light-bodied, “west coast” India pale ale featuring Centennial, Cascade, and Simcoe hops and poppy seeds. Like Figueroa Mountain in May, this brew is bursting with a bouquet of floral, citrusy hop flavors and aromas.

Just like last time, we emptied almost half the keg yesterday. Hurry in to try a pint before it’s gone again.
