Mystery Beer for January 21

Jack Browne Brown Ale
Poseidon Brewing Co. – Ventura

Hidden away in an industrial park in Ventura, just near the edge of the city limits near the Buenaventura Golf Course, you’ll find what may be the county’s newest brewery; Poseidon Brewing Co. We’ve waited since they first poured their beers at the Ventura County Fair last to be able to get a keg or two into the pub and be able to pour some for you. They just received the ability to distribute their beers from the state and we were lucky enough to be able to get a keg of their Jack Browne, Northern English Brown Ale. And of course, it was our Mystery Beer for yesterday, January 21st.

From their website:

Jack Browne Brown Ale
Released December 12, 2014
Northern English Brown Ale; 5.5% ABV; 19 IBUs; Malt forward, balanced, toasted nuts/toffee

For our interpretation of this Northern English Brown Ale, we stayed as true to the style as possible. We brewed it with Marris Otter malt, East Kent Goldings hops and English yeast. We even modified our brewing water to match the minerals found in the ground water in Liverpool, England. This beer is malt oriented and exhibits flavors of toasted hazelnuts, toffee and sweet barley. Elegant and smooth, this beer is a must try.

Stop in for this delicious example of a Norther English Brown Ale today. And be sure to visit them at their brewery and taproom in Ventura soon too!
