We surprised you a couple of weeks ago with a Mystery Beer that very few were able to identify although many had enjoyed it previously. It was put on tap to remind everyone (myself included) that some of the craft beers that have been around awhile are still very worthy of gracing our palates; as was the case with Firestone Walker Double Barrel Ale, the Mystery on July 28th.

This week’s Mystery Beer is a similar case. It’s a classic style — a 5.6% abv Porter — but from a brewery that’s not from around here — over 900 miles away — so you may not have had a chance to try it before now. This brewery has been popping up more recently in Southern California and we’re happy grab a keg of this award winning porter from them. This Porter emphasizes the darker, roasted aspects of malt. Hints of dark chocolate and freshly roasted coffee provide the focus, while hops remain in the background. Not as full-bodied as a stout, Porter bridges the gap between malty brown ales and this brewery’s more heavily roasted stouts.

As a special treat for our social media and newsletter friends, if you can identify the brewery you’ll get to keep the glass! (We won’t be announcing this in the pub!) Don’t worry… we won’t make it that hard!

Come in Tuesday for a pint or two of this mystery at a discounted price (AND a chance to keep the glass) and learn its identity Wednesday when you come back for Food Truck Wednesday with Shrimp vs Chef! (Or find out online when we post it to our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.)
