Tuesday Mystery Reveal

Yesterday’s Mystery Beer was poured as a preview to our Rye Beer Day we’re hosting tomorrow, Thursday the 12th. It’s Rye-On-Rye from Boulevard Brewing in Kansas City, MO. Known to us already for their Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale and Tell-Tale-Tart Sour Ale (both available in our bottle fridge), Rye-On-Rye is the 1st rye and the 1st barrel-aged beer we’ve had from Boulevard, and it’s another delicious example of what theyre brewing.
From their website:

Style: Specialty Grain Beer (Rye)
ABV: 12.0%
IBU: 47
Why Rye? This assertively flavorful grain is more often associated with whiskey than with ales. Even in that arena, it has largely been eclipsed by corn and barley, the sources of bourbon and scotch. But when we procured some seasoned barrels from our friends at Templeton Rye, we asked ourselves, Why not? Why not brew a rich, tawny rye ale, then mellow it in the warmth of charred oak rye whiskey casks? Two kinds of malted rye provide spicy sweetness, giving way to notes of caramelized wood and the citrusy tang of Citra and Ahtanum hops before easing into a dry, lingering finish.

Join us for a glass today, or try it in a Rye Beer flight tomorrow!

Double Bastard Growler Pours to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project

Update: The winning ticket number is 549005. Congratulations Kelly! Come by and pick up your growler!

For Veterans Day we’re emptying a 3 liter growler of Stone Brewing’s Double Bastard 4 ounces at a time…and then giving away the growler! Each pour is $5.00* with 100% of the proceeds to be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project; a charity and veterans service organization that offers a variety of programs, service and events for wounded veterans of the military actions following the events of September 11, 2001.

Come in for a 4 ounce pour and receive a sweepstakes ticket for each pour you purchase (limit 4 pours per person). We’ll draw the winning ticket after closing on Veterans Day and will then post the winning number. Winner must present their portion of the winning ticket stub and does not need to be present to win. The winner will be able to pickup their growler anytime during regular business hours beginning Thursday, November 12th.

We hope that you’ll stop in today to raise a glass to those who have served.

*While we are asking a minimum of $5 per 4 ounce pour, we hope that you’ll consider donating more. All proceeds from sales of Double Bastard from the growler will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.

In accordance with state law, the growler will be empty and cannot be filled here at Darryl’s Couch.
